Councils call for law change to make it easier punish people for littering.

Councils call for law change to make it easier punish people for littering.

WHO: Councils across the country

WHERE: Auckland and around the country.

WHEN: Published on the 26th of the 8th 2018.

WHY: To get more power so the people who litter have to pay the price.

WHAT:
Councils across the country want more power by being able to fine people for littering easier.
To make it easier it currently requires council officers to either observe a person littering which it would have to be in the act of being carried out, or had just been committed. Also No one likes finding a pile of rubbish dumped down a bank, in a green belt or behind a building.

IN MY OPINION:I like how the councils are taking action!

WONDERING:I wonder what will happen.

GLOSSARY: green belt-an area of open land around a city, on which building is restricted.

Many New Zealanders are getting away with littering because councils don't have enough power to punish people for it.
